The Opportunity Card is a residence permit designed for workers from non-EU countries who
Wish to enter Germany to find employment or explore ways to have their foreign professional
Qualifications recognized in Germany. The Eligibility for the Opportunity Card is assessed using a points system based on your qualification, experience, and other factors. A minimum of six points is needed to qualify. However, if you have a recognized vocational qualification from Germany, then you can apply for the Opportunity Card without having to meet the minimum points requirement. In either case, you must also meet the basic requirements outlined below.
The Basic requirements:
Completed 3yrs degree or at least two years of training
German language skills of level A1 or English language skills at level B2
Sufficient fund to cover the living expenses during the stay
The age limit to apply is 18 - 40 years.
At least 2 years of professional work experience relevant to the educational qualification

- If the Professional qualification is partially recognised or requires permission to practise the profession, 4 Points
- Qualification in a shortage occupation, 1 Point
- 2 points for at least two years of relevant professional experience in the last five years, you will earn two points. And 3 points for three years of relevant professional experience within the last seven years, 2-3 Point
- Language skills
- For language skills one point for German language skills at level A2 of the Common European
Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), two points for level B1, and three points for level B2 or higher
- 1-4 points
- 2 points for those who are not older than 35 years of age receive two points. One point is awarded for ages between 35 and 40
- 1-2 points
- If you wish to enter Germany together along with your spouse,you receive one point for one of the two applications
- 1 point
